Marla Larson, MS, CCEP, NBC-HWC

Operations Director

Marla is a multi-faceted individual with a profound passion for aviation that has been ingrained in her since childhood. Her fascination with flying and airplanes blossomed early on, fueling her dream of one day, taking to the skies. While stationed with the U.S. Navy, Marla’s affection for flying grew when she flew on her first flight with her then-boyfriend, now husband, Greg, for their first date. At the encouragement of Greg, Marla decided to take flying lessons at Glenview Naval Air Station, a journey that strengthened her connection to aviation. Interestingly, her grandfather, LTJG Paul G. Schroeder, MD, once flew from the same airbase, solidifying her family history with her love of flying.

Greg volunteers with the Asheville Civil Air Patrol where he serves as an Instructor Pilot, teaching Mountain Flying Techniques, Search and Rescue patterns and procedures as well as Instructing Cadets in the Civil Air Patrol Flight Academy. He has also provided initial flight instruction to Active-Duty Air Force Personnel as part of the Rated Preparatory Program. This program helps prepare Active-Duty Personnel who would like to pursue Aviation and Pilot jobs in the Air Force. Greg has served as a Board Member of the Western North Carolina Pilots Association and Educational Foundation, awarding annual grants to aspiring pilots. He is an active member of the Mountain Flyers Flying Club where he also serves as an Instructor Pilot to club members.

Greg is a U.S. Navy Veteran and continues to serve in several volunteer roles.

For the majority of his professional career, Greg has held both leadership and management positions in the Technology Sector with key global companies and served most recently as the Chief Information Security Officer in the Government and Public Sector.

Greg holds a Master of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Technology Studies/Cyber Security and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Technology Management with Post Graduate studies at Cambridge University, UK and Paderborn University, Germany focusing on Technology Leadership.

He also enjoys fly fishing, spending time with family and of course flying whenever possible.

“One of the most impactful statements shared with me from a good friend was: “If you have a goal and a dream, share it with someone. There are many people in the Aviation Industry that want to see you succeed and help you get there”. This has had a profound impact on my life and in how I approach opportunities to help others.” – Greg Larson
